McLean Bible Church
Thought I'd blog a bit about the church I attended this past Sunday and am likely to keep on attending until I leave here. :-) I went to Dulciana's church, McLean Bible Church (click here to see their website), which is located off of Route 7 in Vienna, VA. Took me about 45 minutes to get there (which wasn't too bad - no traffic on 270 or the Beltway) and let me tell you - this place is MASSIVE. There's a double-decker parking garage and the place is about the size of a miniature mall. When you first walk in, it looks like the front entrance to a sports stadium!
They hold 4 regular services per week and another 1 or 2 for the youth, I think. The auditorium holds over 1,000 and was pretty full this past week. I really liked the pastor, Lon Solomon (you can look up his bio on the website). He spoke on repentence this week - he's got a very straight-forward style and an great sense of humor. Here's a quote:
"So if you are surrounded in an unethical, immoral, and dishonest environment at work, maybe it's time you got a new job. 'But Lon,' you say, 'I can't do that - I'm a U.S. Senator!'"
Anyhow, he was a really good speaker. And the worship team - talk about AWESOME. These guys were professional musicians. You have to audition to get on the worship team!! (I think I'm going to go help out in the nursery instead...)
I am so glad I finally found a great church to attend - it really felt more like home. Obviously, not quite as animated as NewSong (where I attend while at Case), but great just the same. Thanks again to Dulciana for inviting me!
