Yeah yeah yeah, it's been forever since I posted. I know you missed me, blah blah blah. Give me a break, I lead a busy life. :-) And things just got busier now that our Wednesday nights have started back up with the kids. We're doing AWANA for the first time at this church. I did AWANA as a kid waaaay back when I attended CBA... we found my old uniform at my parents' home!! I did very well in the program, actually. And I still have my Sparky award!
Anyhow, this year I'm the director of the Sparks program (Kindergarten through 2nd grade). Don't ask me how it happened - apparently we really needed people. ;-) It's a bit of a different role in terms of interaction with the kids compared to last year - I give announcements and orders a lot more, and I'm in charge of coordinating a lot of stuff. I like doing it, just wish I had more time to get things perfect, but you know me...
Last week was our first week. Thankfully, things went smoothly, even though I was pretty sick. My leaders are great though - they've got tons of ideas, and they interact really well with the kids. Plus they're enthusiastic about what we're trying to do!!
I think we're going to have a great year - although I already know who my troublemakers are. There are a couple of 2nd graders who will be losing points for their teams - I can feel it!! It's also funny to watch them try to play me. Well, it's funny for now, anyways - it will probably become exasperating! God, give me patience!! (And give it to me NOW!!! :-D) Most of you know I am not one to succumb to peer pressure and guilt trips - I'm actually the last person you want to try and guilt-trip. But the kids don't know that yet. ;-)
It's just a great time in my life to be doing this. There are days when I long for children of my own, but then I remind myself that if I did have kids, there's no way I'd be able to direct this program because I'd be too busy taking care of my own family! I'm very happy with this period of my life right now. Plus, I am about to start playing on the worship team at FMC - I haven't played on a worship team in over 4 years (since I played at NewSong in Cleveland), but I am very excited about starting again!! Our worship leader is Jake Brothers - he's a recording artist as well as our worship pastor. Turns out he went to Anderson University and is good friends with some of the kids that I knew from high school and the EACOG youth group! You can check out Jake's music here as well as on iTunes.
So that's what's up with me... I guess this is more of an update post than my usual sassy rants. Sistah T is getting soft. Yeowzer.
