I feel the earth... move... under my feet

Yes, it's official. Indiana had an earthquake this morning.

It occurred at 5:36 AM this morning, about 170 miles SW of here - current Richter scale estimate is 5.2 in magnitude. It did wake me up, and although I have been in earthquakes before in Taiwan, this was certainly the strongest I have ever felt. Yes, I know. Now I have to tell people that the strongest earthquake I have felt was in... Indiana?!

My bed started shaking and I felt our entire condo structure vibrate - having been in an earthquake before, I knew what it was immediately. My very first thought was, "here???" (My second thought was, "God - is this the Second Coming?") It started off with about 10 seconds of significant vibration, followed by about another 80 seconds of minimal rumbling before things stopped shaking. I did hear a yelp from one of my neighbors initially, which is unusual because we have a foot of really good insulation (and I mean, really good - I should know, my mom used to make that stuff for Dow) between each condo on either side.

Thankfully, no apparent damage to the structure. (I have yet to check my driveway for cracks.) Naturally, I was unable to fall back asleep and have been tuned in to the radio ever since.

Toto, I don't think we're in Indiana anymore...
